The visit of the Ambassador Duong Hai Hung in Genova on 13 June 2022



GENOVA, LIGURIA – During the diplomatic activities, with the aim of developing the local and entrepreneurial economy, on 13th June 2022, the Ambassador of Vietnam in Italy Sir Duong Hai Hung met the President of Confindustria Genova, Mr. Umberto Risso.


President Risso appreciated the eventual cooperation with Vietnam, which is an important partner for Liguria region, stating that internationalisation will be Confindustria’s strategic goal in the coming future.


The Ambassador Duong presented the opportunities and the potentialities of Vietnamese economy and seemed trustworthy toward the trade development between the two countries.


The two parties agreed on a series of specific cooperation programs, like the planning of business trips for the delegations of two countries, with the aim of finding and investing opportunities, in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate of Vietnam in Turin and by the Chamber of Commerce Italy-Vietnam.





On the same day, at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce of Genova, the Ambassador Duong Hai Hung and Mr. Franco Aprile, Chamber of Commerce of Genova Counsellor, co-presented the seminar “Economic cooperation between Vietnam and Genova”, with the partecipation of the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Torino Ms. Sandra Scagliotti, the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce Italy-Vietnam and more than 20 delegates from import-export companies of the region.


By appreciating the vietnamese economic development, Mr. Franco Aprile said that Vietnam is considered the opening gate into ASEAN’s market for the companies of Genova. He underlined the trade tradition of the city as well as others important sectors and hope to promote trade relationships with Vietnam, take advantage of EVFTA after the recovery from the pandemic.


The Ambassador Duong Hai Hung affirmed that, thanks to the Vietnamese economy’s dynamic development and the large integration, the two countries might collaborate in diverse sectors, such as naval construction, auxiliary industry, nanochip technology, robots, high-tech agriculture and tourism.



During the seminar, many regional companies showed interest toward Vietnamese economy. The Ambassador and the Counsellor of the Commercial Office of the Embassy responded to questions about green growth, energy saving and sustainable development.


After the seminar, the Ambassador met the Representative of the Port Authority of Genova and he thanked them for the successful support to the case of the 100 containers of cashew nuts. The Ambassador visited the room where the historic trip of Australe ship had been organized in 1973, shipping 3000 tons of stuffs and drugs from Italy to the Vietnamese population against America. To conclude, he hoped that the two parts would collaborate in different fields, such as ship construction, sea transportation, education, sea foods import and export and, finally, high tech machineries.
