GENOVA. The president of Liguria Region Mr. Giovanni Toti met the Ambassador of Vietnam in Italy Sir. Duong Hai Hung for the first time visit in Genova and Liguria. There were also the Honorary Consul of Vietnam Ms. Sandra Scagliotti and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce Italy-Vietnam, included the President Fulvio Albano and the General Secretary Walter Cavrenghi.

Looking to the future, never forgetting the present time linked to the Ukrainian war and the arising cost of raw materials, the future opportunities of strengthen trade as economic exchanges and partnerships between Liguria and Vietnam, particularly in the fields of sea ports, transports and technologies, has been among the main discussed topics.

President Toti underlined how Vietnam is day by day becoming an influential piece within the global productive sphere and sent his wishes so that it will become a more and more important partner for Liguria, especially since next year expected celebrations in occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Italy and Vietnam. On that occasion, Toti proposed to organize events in Liguria, too, together with the Port Authority and the Chamber of Commerce Italy-Vietnam, as well as Carlo Felice Theatre. The President highlighted the favorable present moment to build ties with Vietnam, after the difficulties brought by the pandemic and the need of a new growth and of international development for our companies.

The Ambassador Duong Hai Hung, who said to be touched by his first visit in Liguria and Genova, offered his congratulations for the important reached goals over the years, so that nowadays both the city of Genova and the whole region are at the cutting edge in many fields, such sea port and technologies, crucial aspects for the Vietnamese economy, too, wishing for the opportunity to organize other further economic-cultural meetings.
