Overseas Vietnamese in Italy join hands and unite towards the country

During an official visit to the French Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with overseas Vietnamese representatives from 13 European countries at the Vietnamese Embassy in France on 4 November.

The meeting was attended by a group of five overseas Vietnamese in Italy, including the President of Italy - Vietnam Solidarity Association, Mr. Tran Minh Chau, the Vice President of Italy - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Pham Van Hong; the President of the Association – A bridge between Italian Vietnamese Culture, Mrs. Le Thi Bich Huong; Dr. Karen Nguyen and the Vice President of the Vietnamese Student Association in Italy Vu Thi Bich Diep. Residing in different Italian regions, the five representatives are very close to each other and actively participate in the Vietnamese community.

On behalf of the group of representatives, Ms. Diep expressed thanks to the Government and Embassy of Vietnam for their great support and sharing, both materially and spiritually for the Vietnamese community and students amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She deeply understood the difficulties of the government and citizens and she highly appreciated the government's sense of responsibility and its timely actions, thanks to that the country will quickly return to a new normal and stable status for economic development. By representing a large number of Vietnamese in Italy, the group proposed to collaborate soon with Italian partners to implement direct flights between the two countries.

In the context of the complicated COVID-19 pandemic, a group of medical experts represented by Dr. Karen Nguyen presented three packages of support to the fight against the pandemic in the country. Specifically, the group will provide free training courses for Vietnamese medical personnel, 1,000 rapid test kits for 4 variants of COVID-19, 1,000 free treatment packages to Vietnam directly from Dr. Karen Nguyen's team. At the same time, Ms. Le Thi Bich Huong, President of the Association – A bridge between Italian Vietnamese Culture, on behalf of the Association and the Vietnamese community in Cyprus, donated 5,000 euros to children orphaned due to COVID-19 in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.


In the previous period, overseas Vietnamese in Italy had made various contributions. At the beginning of 2021, thanks to the Italy-Vietnam solidarity Association, the Vietnamese community in Italy raised more than 4,000 euros for the prevention of Covid 19 in the Da Nang’s hospital. Together with the Italy - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce, they raised more than 11,000 euros for the restoration of the flood-hit schools in Quang Binh and Quang Tri. In addition, the overseas community in Italy has contributed to many of the activities of cultural promotion by teaching the Vietnamese language, promoting the traditional Vietnamese martial arts, economic, investment cooperation, and educational cooperation between Vietnam and Italy.
