What the e-Visa to Vietnam
The e-Visa is a visa which allows the entrance to Vietnam. It’s released online by the Immigration Department to foreigners who’d like to enter the Country.
The e-Visa lasts 30 days and allows one single entrance to Vietnam. It’s perfect for those people who want to stay no more than a month. The e-Visa costs 25 US$. Since the application, it takes 3 working days for the reception of the visa. The e-Visa is available to citizens from 80 different countries, among those who has an Italian passport.
What you need to have in order to ask for the e-Visa to Vietnam
Before the application, it’s compulsory to have the essential qualifications and information. Other than those who have an Italian passport, the application for the e-Visa to Vietnam is open for those who have a passport from one of the following countries:

In order to fill the application form you will need:
· A six months valid passport
· A .jpg picture of the passport page containing your personal data
· A jpg. passport photo (4×6, white wallpaper, no glasses)
· A credit or debit card for online payments
· An e-mail address
· A Vietnamese address (for instance the hotel’s one)
· The entry and exit to Vietnam date
How to ask for the e-Visa to Vietnam
Hereby the step by step procedure to ask for it.
1st step: access to the official web site
The e-Visa to Vietnam is available on the Immigration Department website. The dedicated section opens by clicking here. The website is in English only. To proceed with the request, you must click on the picture “For foreigners”.
2nd step: instructions
In this page you can visualize the 3 steps description: insert personal data; pay; download the e-Visa. You must check, below on the page, to confirm to have read the instructions and click “Next” to continue.
3rd step: insert data
There are 3 principal mandatory sections in the form: “Foreigner’s images”, “Personal Information” and “Requested information”. There are then two reserved section in case you’ve been invited by instituions or organizations or in case of passport which include company of a <14 years old.
Foreigner’s images
In here, passport photo and the image of the passport page containing personal data need to be uploaded.
Personal Information
Then, personal information need to be written, like:
· Your name (name first, surname then)
· Gender
· Birth date
· Religion
· Passport number
· Kind of passport (it’s already checked “Ordinary passport”)
· Passport expiration date
· Ideal day of entry in Vietnam
· Days of staying in Vietnam (numbers of days must be calculated. It’s already checked ‘30’)
· Reason of stay (it’s already checked “Tourism”)
· Temporary vietnamese address (for instance, the hotel’s of staying)
· City/Province (you need to write a city or a province you’re going to visit. In case of more visits, select the first one)
Institutions and children
In case of visiting Vietnam because an organization invited you, name and address of the organizations must be written in “Inviting/ guarentering agency/ organization (if any)”. Otherwise, ignore this section.
Requested information
In the last section you can see how the starting date of your visa is automatically inserted copying the starting date written in the upper section “Personal Information”. The end date, as well, is automatically written: 30 days after the starting date of the visa.
In case of need to change the days, attention is requested in these sections. In case of changes to the arrival date within “Personal information”, the form will automatically update all the other ones. Otherwise, if the duration days are modified only, the system doesn’t update anything.
When the days are confirmed, select “checkpoint”. They are boundary lines like airports, ports and land crossing. Regarding airports, there 9 of them which right now accept e-Visa. These are Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh city, Danang, Phu Quoc, Phu Bay in Hue, Van Don in Quang Ninh, Can Tho, Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa and Cat Bi in Hai Phong.
Lastly, Captcha code needs to be written and the box which confirm you’ve written true information must be checked. Now, go on by clicking on “Review application form”.
4th step: verify the information
As soon as you click on “Review application form”, if all the boxes have been compelted, you’ll see “successfully completed!” and a list of some info written in red. The first one is “registration code”. It’s fundamental copying and saving this code in order to download the e-Visa later. By clicking on “ok”, the box closes and a review of your data appears. The registration code is still available at the bottom of the page, within “Requested information”.
In case you see a mistake, click on “Back”. If, indeed, everything is correct, click on “Payment” to proceed.
5th step: pay
A page with a review opens. To proceed, click on “Pay e-visa fee”.
Now, click on “International card” and insert your credit or debit card. The cost for e-Visa to Vietnam is 25 US$.
Where you can download the e-Visa to Vietnam
AS we already seen, the request need 3 working days to be done. Anyway, it can happen that the registration lasts longer. Therefore, is possible, it’s suggested to fill the form as soon as possible – anyway one week before the arrival in Vietnam.
To verify your request status and to download the visa, open this page. Where you see “Check application status and download E-Visa”, insert your Registration code, your e-mail, your birth date and captcha code. If your demand has been approved, you’ll receive a link to download the e-Visa.

Important notes
· Checking your data before sending the request is essential, since e-visa cost is not refundable.

Should I enter Vietnam the exact day written on the form?
No. The validity starts from that date. You can enter Vietnam whener you want to within this time.

No, it’s obsolete. You can enter and exit Vietnam anywhere e-Visa is accepted.
Can I enter Vietnam before or after the e-Visa validity?
No. You can’t enter Vietnam before or after the e-Visa expiring date.
As soon as I arrived in Vietnam, should I wait at the “Visa on Arrival”?
No. It’s enough to show your passport and visa at the immigration point.
What should I do if I want to enter Vietnam before the e-Visa validity?

Can I ask for an extension of the validity?
